Research Paper “Digitising Culture: Legal and Ethical Dimensions in Indian and International Museums”, co-authored by our researchers Khushi Kesari and Shivani Singh , is officially published by AVICOM International Council of Museums (ICOM)
They presented this work in 2024 at the AVICOM–ICOM International Conference in Turin, Italy, organised in partnership with Università di Torino and the Ministero della Cultura dell’Università e della Ricerca.
Their study looks at how Indian museums such as the National Museum (Delhi) and CSMVS (Mumbai) are adopting AI, AR/VR and 3D technologies and compares these developments with global institutions including the British Museum, the Met and the Louvre. They highlight the potential of digitisation to expand access and engagement through platforms like Google Arts & Culture, while also unpacking the legal and ethical questions it raises, including intellectual property rights, cultural ownership, data privacy and equitable access to digital heritage.
