Call for Papers | International Conference on Indian Cultural Influence and Historical Connections Across South Asia and Southeast Asia | February 2025

The Advanced Study Institute of Asia at SGT University invites scholars, researchers, historians, and cultural heritage professionals to submit papers for the upcoming international conference in February 2025 on the theme “Indian Cultural Influence and Historical Connections Across South Asia and Southeast Asia.” This event explores the rich and complex heritage of cultural exchange between India and its neighbouring regions, tracing the shared historical and sociopolitical developments that shaped both areas. With a key focus on heritage sites, trade relations, and the spread of religious and political ideas, the conference provides a platform for in-depth analysis of how Indian influence manifested in various forms across South and Southeast Asia and the bilateral exchange of ideas.

We invite submissions that shed light on the following key themes (but not limited to the following:

  • Indian Influence on Southeast Asian Heritage Sites
  • Cultural Diplomacy and Historical Connections
  • The Spread of Indian Religious Traditions
  • Trade Routes and Cultural Exchange
  • Indianization and Hybrid Cultures
  • Language, Literature, and Religious Texts
  • Trade, Travel, and Religious Pilgrimages
  • Innovation in Ancient Trade and Commerce
  • Spices, Textiles, and Luxury Goods
  • Port Cities as Hubs of Innovation and Cultural Exchange

Abstract submissions should be between 300-500 words, clearly outlining the proposed paper’s scope, methodology, key arguments, and including six keywords. The abstract must function as a standalone document. Additionally, please provide a short biography (up to 150 words) along with your submission. The abstract should be submitted as a Word document, formatted in Times New Roman or Garamond font, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing. All submissions should be sent to khushi@advancedstudy.asia and communications@advancedstudy.asia by 20th October 2024.

  • Postgraduate Student: ₹500
  • Professional: ₹1,000

International Participants:

Professional: $60

Undergraduate Student: Free of Cost
