Roundtable discussion on India’s performance in the Global Innovation Index and related policy considerations at NITI Aayog

Shivani Singh and Khushi Kesari, ASIA Team members had the opportunity to attend an informal roundtable discussion at NITI Aayog, chaired by Dr. VIJAY KUMAR SARASWAT, Member, NITI Aayog and former Secretary, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. The session focused on India’s performance in the Global Innovation Index and related policy considerations.

The conversation featured Dr. Carsten Fink, Chief Economist, World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO, Mr. Marco M. Alemán, Assistant Director General, World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO and Prof (Dr.) Unnat P Pandit, Office Of The Controller General Of Patents, Designs And Trade Marks (CGPDTM), India. We engaged in a stimulating discussion on the challenges evaluating the contribution on IP in country’s economy and of capturing the creative economy within India’s informal sector, an area often overlooked by conventional metrics and indicators.

On behalf of Advanced Study Institute of Asia, we also had the privilege of presenting our quarterly journal publication, Decypher Volume I Edition III titled, “𝑳𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑳𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒓?
