Research Assistant – Effective Governance and SDGs

Probation for 1 year

We are seeking a young and motivated researcher with a strong background in public policy and local governance. The ideal candidate will have exceptional qualitative research skills, a relevant degree (preferably at the master’s level), and a keen interest in global public policy challenges. Key responsibilities include conducting high-quality research, generating original insights, producing engaging written content, and contributing to strategic discussions. The role also involves organizing workshops, collaborating with the Head of Research, and supporting broader organizational efforts. Key Responsibilities:

  • Familiarity with quantitative research methodologies
  • Conduct high-quality research using various methods, including desk research,
    interviews, focus groups, surveys, and comparative case studies.
  • Analyze and interpret research findings to generate original insights and ideas.
  • Produce clear, engaging written content such as reports, articles, and blogs tailored to
    diverse audiences.
  • Assist in developing new research ideas, proposals, and project outlines.
  • Organize and coordinate workshops both in-person and online.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Research and team members to identify new research
    opportunities, innovate methods, and expand the research portfolio.
  • Contribute to broader organizational efforts, including corporate communications and strategic discussions.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Passion for local democracy and a keen interest in global public policy challenges.
  • A relevant degree, ideally at the master’s level.
  • Strong understanding of public policy and current challenges in local governance.
  • Exceptional qualitative research skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other software tools.
  • Ability to craft informative and engaging content for various audiences, particularly those
    involved in local government policy.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet
    deadlines.
  • Creative and innovative thinker, contributing to debates and discussions within the
    organization and among members.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment,
    proactively tackling new challenges and identifying opportunities to support wider
    organizational goals.


Desirable:

  • Experience working in local government or community organizations.
  • Familiarity with quantitative research methodologies.
