Preksha Jalan is an Assistant Program Officer in the Digital History Lab at The Advanced Study Institute of Asia, SGT University. She holds an MA in South Asian Area Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, where she was a Felix Scholar. Before that, she completed her BA (Hons) in Political Science from OP Jindal Global University. Her research interests include South Asian cultural history, commodity histories, and the interpretation of archival sources.
Her work engages with interdisciplinary approaches to explore alternative ways of interpreting historical narratives. She is particularly interested in questions of identity, gender, the public sphere, and how these are shaped by material worlds and everyday objects.
At SOAS, she worked with faculty mentors on ‘Ittar, Attar, and Oud: In between Tradition & Modernity’, a collaborative project that explored scent as a lens to examine questions of identity, community, and migration in South Asian contexts.
