The Launch of the Woh Dilli Project

About the Project:

Delhi, a city with a rich and varied history, has been a prominent center of power and culture for over a millennium. It reached the zenith of its grandeur during the Mughal era when it was known as Shahjahanabad, famous for the majestic Red Fort and the Jama Masjid.

Created and curated by the History Lab, Advanced Study Institute of Asia at SGT University, Sanrachna Foundation, and Mr. Shubham Mishra, the Woh Dilli Project aims to retell the history of Shahjahanabad through a meticulously crafted map-based site and book. The project is enriched with models, illustrations, pictures, and stories, exploring its life and landmarks during the 17th and 18th centuries. It serves as a bridge between the past and the present, allowing you to peel back the layers of history and uncover the passage of time. The project seeks to answer questions about how Delhi appeared in the 17th and 18th centuries, its residents’ interactions and communication methods, their lifestyles, and the locations of various markets.

Highlights of the Event:

  • Launch Ceremony: The project will be launched by Gulzar Sahib, Najeeb Jung Sahib, and Shri Ram Bahadur Rai.
  • Conversation: A stimulating discussion with Dr. Swapna Liddle, Najeeb Jung Sahib, Prof. Amogh Rai, Shri. Manmohan Singh Chawla and Mr. Shubham Mishra.
