About the Event

As India moves toward becoming a global hub for emerging technologies, its intellectual property ecosystem must evolve with equal agility. Building on two prior roundtable conversations, this upcoming session will explore how India can shape a more inclusive, adaptive, and innovation-focused framework for Standard Essential Patents (SEPs).

From electric vehicles and artificial intelligence to clean energy and digital infrastructure, emerging sectors depend increasingly on interoperable standards and complex licensing structures. This roundtable will also address the impact of the updated Computer-Related Inventions (CRI) guidelines on SEP enforcement, patentability, and innovation incentives.

 Key Themes

  • Institutional readiness for SEP governance in India
  • Sector-specific licensing challenges
  • The role of CRI guidelines in shaping IP strategy
  • Balancing innovation incentives with public interest
  • Creating equitable and transparent SEP mechanisms

👥 Who’s Attending?

Legal scholars, policy experts, industry leaders, IP practitioners, and technologists from across India and beyond.

Why It Matters

This roundtable is part of ASIA’s ongoing effort to shape progressive, cross-sectoral policy dialogue. By bringing together diverse voices, we aim to outline pathways for SEP reform that align technological leadership with domestic innovation and social equity.
