The Advanced Study Institute of Asia (ASIA), established in 2023 and affiliated with Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University in Gurugram, India, serves as an interdisciplinary research center dedicated to enhancing the understanding of Asia, particularly South and Southeast Asia. Situated in New Delhi, ASIA aims to navigate the complexities of various fields, including International Relations, health, law, and societal issues, by leveraging the expertise of leading scholars and practitioners. ASIA’s mission is to create a comprehensive research environment that fosters a nuanced understanding of Asian dynamics through a multidisciplinary lens. Over the past year, the institute has initiated diverse projects spanning historical, political, and health-related themes. This work is disseminated through various formats, including publications, ASIA SenseMaker conversations, videos, podcasts, and newsletters, thereby establishing a platform for diverse perspectives on the continent. The institute’s strategic approach encompasses both short- and long-term research objectives, facilitating networking across various thematic areas. ASIA has a dedicated team of young researchers, who actively engage in public discourse and contribute to academic discussions. The collaborative atmosphere within ASIA is designed to maximize the potential of its researchers. In the coming years, ASIA aspires to expand its research scope to include primary studies alongside secondary analyses, further enriching its contributions to the academic community and enhancing its role as a critical think tank in the region.
