Abhilasha Semwal

Deputy Director of Programmes & Operations

Having worked at ASIA since its inception, Abhilasha Semwal has been Deputy Director of Programmes & Operations since April 2024. Her work includes serving as the Sanrachna Foundation’s Process & Programme Manager since 2019 and as an Assistant Professor of Law at notable universities, including IP University and Amity University, from 2013 to 2019. She was born in Shillong in 1988.

In addition to her master’s degree in business law, Abhilasha has a bachelor’s degree in law. The All India Bar Association in Uttarakhand has her registration as a lawyer. Having worked in academics and research for over 12 years, Abhilasha has curated several events and partnerships with organizations. She has been adept at handling major events while overseeing the organization’s daily operations and projects.


She is highly interested in legal research and has produced various papers on AI and its legal challenges and implications, Language protection as guaranteed by the constitutions of South East and South Asian countries, and Animal Protection Laws in India.
